This fireplace began with a slightly raised brick hearth and brick covering the entire wall and had no mantle. We were able to build a custom mantle, finish the wall above in cultured stone and close the wall on either side. We lowered and replaced the hearth and added a surround of black granite with some crown molding to create a clean updated look.
